Jillian aka "Lady j" |
TEACHES IN: EAST ORANGE |
![]() Born and raised in Montclair and currently living in East Orange, Jillian began line dancing in Philadelphia in 2004 when she joined the Bally's Gym to get fit. But she found something even better in line dancing because it's good for the body and soul. She became a member of Ladies and Lads in Motion (LLIM's) and Fierce Moves before relocating to Atlanta for a period. Now back home in Northern New Jersey, she returned to line dancing through the Line Dance Game Night at Newark Symphony Hall and attending classes. Seeing a need for more diverse class options, she started an intermediate /advanced class with X-Man in East Orange that, she is proud to say, has since grown many new advanced dancers in the area. Together with X-Man, Lil Bit, and Ms. Dee Lady J helped to form S4S into what it is today. Soul line dancing is her passion, and she believes it's her mission to encourage and nurture line dancers so that others can enjoy the fun, fitness, and fellowship that she has enjoyed over the years. "No Child Left Behind" :-) Jillian is certified in Adult/Infant CPR/AED and became a fully certified instructor through the International Consortium of Line Dance Instructors in August 2015. |

She loves to travel and spend time with her family, friends, and line dancing family. She now has a new list of places to visit (line dance related, of course) and has already began checking off the list. |

![]() Favorite Line Dances: I Got Your Back; Come Dance with Me Native New Yorker Jessica “J-Boogie aka J-Boogs” moved to Bloomfield, NJ back in 2008 while still commuting to the city for work, which worked for a little while, but she wanted something closer to home and more meaningful to her life. Now working for the East Orange YMCA as their Membership and Marketing Director, she now has more of a purpose driven life, but yearned for a local social scene that also promoted healthy living. She soon discovered in the summer of 2012 that right across the street from the Y was a soul line dancing class instructed by Lady J and X-Man. Jessica knew she loved to freestyle dance, but choreographed steps were different and fun. She had no idea the line dancing world was such a phenomenon. Fast forward to March 2013, not only did she suggest that this class be taught at the Y, but to her surprise was also asked to join S4S as an instructor. Thanks to her new crew, J-Boogie teaches beginner/active older adult classes and has met some really great friends. “Good stuff!” |
