FAVORITE LINE DANCES: METAMORPHOSIS, Terminal Reaction

Douglas (aka "X-Man") has been involved in line dancing for over six years as a participant and instructor.  A graduate of New Brunswick High School and Rutgers University, Douglas learned line dancing through attending classes and being under the tutelage of Master Instructor Kenneth "Kenny J" Johnson.  He has instructed, participated and performed domestically and internationally.  He loves teaching line dancing while supporting other dance instructors/groups and their events and considers dancing a window to health and fitness for all people of all ages.

He is certified in Adult/Infant CPR/AED and became a fully certified instructor through the International Consortium of Line Dance Instructors in February 2013.

Jillian aka "Lady j"
  TEACHES IN: EAST ORANGE
Favorite Line DanceS: Terminal Reaction, Airtight

Born and raised in Montclair and currently living in East Orange, Jillian began line dancing in Philadelphia in 2004 when she joined the Bally's Gym to get fit.  But she found something even better in line dancing because it's good for the body and soul.  She became a member of Ladies and Lads in Motion (LLIM's) and Fierce Moves before relocating to Atlanta for a period.  Now back home in Northern New Jersey, she returned to line dancing through the Line Dance Game Night at Newark Symphony Hall and attending classes.  Seeing a need for more diverse class options, she started an intermediate /advanced class with X-Man in East Orange that, she is proud to say, has since grown many new advanced dancers in the area.  Together with X-Man, Lil Bit, and Ms. Dee Lady J helped to form S4S into what it is today.

Soul line dancing is her passion, and she believes it's her mission to encourage and nurture line dancers so that others can enjoy the fun, fitness, and fellowship that she has enjoyed over the years.  "No Child Left Behind"  :-)

Jillian is certified in Adult/Infant CPR/AED and became a fully certified instructor through the International Consortium of Line Dance Instructors in August 2015.

Andrea aka "Lil' Bit"
TEACHES IN: NEWARK, PASSAIC

Favorite Line DanceS: L-Roll; chuck Baby

Andréa L. Mason aka Lil’ Bit started her line dancing career on a random day in June 2011 when she attended the Line Dancing/Game Night at Newark’s Symphony Hall.  After enjoying the evening so much and even earning a “line dancing name” on her first night from Master Instructor Kenny J himself, she was hooked. After about 4 months, “Lil Bit” began attending weekly beginner classes taught by Najah, then spread her wings months later and started a soul line dancing company with her buddies, Douglas “X-MAN”, Jillian “Lady J”, and Danielle “Ms. Dee”.

Andrea lives and works in Newark, NJ. She graduated from Hampton University with a BA in Sports Management and Virginia Commonwealth University’s SportsCenter with an MS in Parks, Recreation, and Sports Leadership.  She is a Leadership Newark Fellow and works with the Division of Recreation and Cultural Affairs.

Andrea is certified in Adult/Infant First Aid/CPR/AED and became a fully certified instructor through the International Consortium of Line Dance Instructors in August 2015.

Danielle aka "Ms. Dee"
 TEACHES IN : JERSEY CITY

FAVORITE LINE DANCES: Clear the Floor; Chuck Baby

"Ms. Dee" began line dancing 2 years ago at Newark Symphony Hall.  What began as an evening out with the girls, turned into a passion and a small business.  After taking classes for 1 yr, she was encouraged to and began instructing classes, which she enjoys.   She loves to travel and spend time with her family, friends, and line dancing family.

She now has a new list of places to visit (line dance related, of course) and has already began checking off the list.

Danielle is a graduate of North Carolina A&T State University-“AGGIE PRIDE”. She has a B.A. in Psychology and received her M.A. in Administration and Supervision from St. Peter’s College.

Danielle is certified in Adult/Infant First Aid/CPR/AED and became a fully certified instructor through the International Consortium of Line Dance Instructors in August 2015.

Jessica aka "J-Boogie"
 TEACHES IN:

Favorite Line Dances: I Got Your Back; Come Dance with Me

Native New Yorker Jessica “J-Boogie aka J-Boogs” moved to Bloomfield, NJ back in 2008 while still commuting to the city for work, which worked for a little while, but she wanted something closer to home and more meaningful to her life.  Now working for the East Orange YMCA as their Membership and Marketing Director, she now has more of a purpose driven life, but yearned for a local social scene that also promoted healthy living.  She soon discovered in the summer of 2012 that right across the street from the Y was a soul line dancing class instructed by Lady J and X-Man.  Jessica knew she loved to freestyle dance, but choreographed steps were different and fun.  She had no idea the line dancing world was such a phenomenon.

Fast forward to March 2013, not only did she suggest that this class be taught at the Y, but to her surprise was also asked to join S4S as an instructor.  Thanks to her new crew, J-Boogie teaches beginner/active older adult classes and has met some really great friends.  “Good stuff!”
